This event will also celebrate the 60&#039;th birthday of IFAC. 60 years ago (1957), the first artificial satellite of the earth, Sputnik, was launched. 100 year ago (1917), the first flight of an aircraft equipped with a gyro-based autopilot was certainly one of the first success of Automatic Control in Aeronautical engineering. Indisputably, IFAC WC 2017 is the good event to collect international contributions in an historical open invited track dedicated to the challenges won in Aerospace engineering, thanks to Automatic control. The scope of this open invited track is to capitalize and exchange the feedback gained from the past major developments and major programs dedicated to control systems in the field of Aeronautical and Astronautical engineering. Contributions can focus on the evolution of methods and algorithms for GNC (Guidance, Navigation and Control), FDIR (Fault Detection Identification and Reconfiguration), FMS (Flight Management Systems), ... as well as instrumentation, actuators, on-board computer for aerospace vehicles (aircraft, rotorcraft, launchers, satellites, constellations,...). Whereas computing for control is well-established domain, the converse : control for computing systems, is a novel approach, explored only in the recent years. &lt;ul&gt;&lt;li&gt;Increased visibility for concrete contributions of automatic control to industrial, economic and social fields with an &lt;strong&gt;application papers&lt;/strong&gt; category.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;A new IFAC 2017 &lt;strong&gt;demonstrator papers&lt;/strong&gt; category to promote industrial prototypes as well as educational or research oriented devices. These demonstrators will be presented at a dedicated exhibition open both to the congress participants and to the public, with control science popularization intention.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;A special IFAC 60&lt;sup&gt;th&lt;/sup&gt; anniversary &lt;strong&gt;history papers&lt;/strong&gt; category dedicated to scientific discussions on how automation and control has emerged and grown.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;A new &lt;strong&gt;Open Invited Track&lt;/strong&gt; submission type. Contributors are invited to promote specific research topics by submitting such tracks that, at the difference with invited sessions, have no limit on the number of papers, and offer the possibility to advertise openly and hence to encourage large number of high quality contributions. Historical, demonstrator and application oriented invited tracks are most welcome.&lt;/li&gt;
